I always look forward to this jam, not because I participate, but because I love to see what this team ends up creating. It matches the theme perfectly, and the combat system is excellent for a small game likes this one.

This has to be my favorite game you have created.

Thanks so much! It's always hard to look at your creations objectively but I'm really happy with the level of polish on this one. Kinda wild to think how long we have been chatting! Hope life is treating you well!

Great game. Managed to get through it in a very decent amount of time - the combat was well balanced and I got the hang of it very quickly - I knew those years of training on QTEs in Shenmue would come in handy again some day :)

I really liked the idea and immersion of literally playing a table top game - the intro camera sweep to the game area was inspired. Reminded me of a game of (very long) game of Risk I played with several buddies many years ago in less savoury environs where the board got invaded by a very brave ant. Who we named 'Purple' as it hung around the purple parts of the map... Don't ask me why I remember this, though I'm doubtless one of my friends would too...

Sorry for the digression, lovely game - well done all!

Loved this, gorgeous art style and I loved how the camera got lower for the battles. Character design and the variety of enemies, the execution of QTEs in battle, everything felt really polished. I loved the little details like being able to pick out details from the tabletop as you continue on your journey. Great fun!

The music and sfx were great and very immersive, I would love to see a final boss theme and a victory tune at the end.

Only bug I noticed was that if you die and respawn, the player character is invisible. Otherwise it performed really well. Amazing submission!

I can tell a lot of thought went into making this. Is it going to get expanded? Here's my thoughts.

First, the spider with the healing ability. I liked that it could heal giving the player a challenge to overcome, but there's no way for player to heal other than at checkpoints. Maybe either making a heal ability, or a potion of some kind for when health runs low in battle could be beneficial. Maybe spacing the checkpoints closer, or if you have to keep it that way due to the map, add more checkpoints in.

Second, loved all the boss fights they were all challenging and cool in their own way.

Third, the music, art, and combat were absolutely amazing and very well done those time events for those attacks were really cool (except the flea that little guy was annoying lol).

For a short game the story was good, but id love to see this expanded. Had alot of fun playtesting this, and would play it again and recommend to others as well. Great way of iterating something old, to make it new again! congrats on such a great job team! Here is my video playthroughs.

Great game!

Damn that's good. And not even because you combined two of my fav things: FF and ants. Amazing sound and visuals, gameplay is good. The game would benefit a lot from some progress / levelling system, in my opinion.

For the balance purposes, I would suggest lowering the Spider's healing amount and Flea's speed a bit.  Antagonist made me chuckle.

Amazing work!

So, I played it a little and i find that the music is very jarring and the controlls feel a little off, repair that and you have a great game, also those quick time events are really hard to land
